WNUG monthly meeting - April 7, 2010

Our monthly User Group meeting will be held at the Lincoln Square Center in Bellevue, across from the Bellevue Square Mall at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. The meeting will be held in Room 15104, (15th floor, room 104) at the Microsoft's offices in Lincoln Square Center.

 

Due to the security requirements, non-Microsoft employees must be escorted to the building by a Microsoft employee. We will have a sign on the 2nd floor elevator with instructions and/or contact phone number. Please feel free to contact Chris Avis of Microsoft on his cell at 425-647-3440 if you need assistance.

Our guest speakers this month are Joe Davies and Greg Lindsay of Microsoft.

Part 1 (Joe Davies): 30-40 minutes discussion on IT Pro documentation for Windows Server.

What is effective? What is not?

What has Microsoft missed?

How do you search for content? Do you find what you are looking for?

What are the best kinds of content for learning new concepts, for everyday?

What is the best kind of troubleshooting content?

What is the role of alternative media (audiocasts, video, animations, etc.) for IT Pro content?

Part 2 (Greg Lindsay): 30-40 minutes of presentation on a networking technology in Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2.

Name resolution in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: A recap discussion of how name resolution works in Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 including changes in DNS behavior, LLMNR, and name resolution for DirectAccess and DNSSEC clients.
